You are invited to join a webinar “A Just Peace: Finding a Common Humanity with the People of Ukraine”, a dialogue between African and Ukrainian speakers on the impact of the war on the people Ukraine, and the urgent need for accountability and peace.
On 11 August 2022, 12h00 – 14h00 SA time
Prior online registration required.
In partnership with the Ukrainian Association of South Africa, the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation will host a dialogue with Graça Machel, Deputy Chair of The Elders, and other African and Ukrainian civil society leaders, on the impact of the war on the people of Ukraine, and the urgent need for accountability and peace.
In the struggle to overcome our colonial past, Africans know better than anyone the importance of being vocal in the fight for justice and peace globally. This coming together and exchange of African and Ukrainian shared experiences, seeks to look beyond the geo- political debate and see a common humanity with the people on the ground.
Africans, having gone through similar experiences in the past, can ill-afford to be neutral in the face of human rights violations in Ukraine. Our contexts may be different, but in sharing our stories we learn that our humanity is bound up in each other.
Join this first of several dialogues on the issue.
