7 січня українці з усього Західного Кейпу зібралися відсвятуквати Українське Різдво. Спочатку прогулялися по чарівному ботанічному саду Кірстенбоша по навісному мосту, який так і прозвали садова змія (Boom­slang), провідали старовинне дерево дикого мигдалю. Пізніше зібралися в Нюлендз, щоб покуштувати куті і інших українських та південно-африканських страв. Настрій був святковий i, в Кейптауні, уже вкотре пролунали українські колядки. Виконання на бандурі Наді Олівер придало особливого колориту. Не обійшлося і без гостей – серед них була Анна Гречишкина, смілива українка, яка подорожує на мотоциклі кругом світу вже 3 роки і зараз вона проїжджає ЮАР. Леон і Якобі ду Той, які присвятили багато років релігійним місіям в Україні. Для них дух українства дуже близький. Наша зустріч — це була чудова нагода для знайомств, спілкування з однодумцями, святкування Різдва і обговорення майбутніх планів. Ми дякуємо всім, хто прийшов і запрошуємо долучатися до майбутніх заходів!

On 7th of Jan­u­ary Ukraini­ans from the West­ern Cape came togeth­er to cel­e­brate Ukrainain Christ­mas. First, we had as a walk in mag­nif­i­cent Kirsten­bosch Botan­i­cal gar­den on the hang­ing bridge called Boom­slang, then vis­it­ed old wild almond tree. Lat­er in the morn­ing we gath­ered in New­lands to taste some “koot­ja” and oth­er Ukrain­ian and South-African dish­es. There was fes­tive spir­it in the air and Ukrain­ian car­ols (kol­jad­ku) were again sung in Cape Town. The per­for­mance on “bun­doo­ra” by Nadia Oliv­er gave a spe­cial feel­ing to the occa­sion. There were some inter­est­ing guests as well. Among them Anna Grechishk­i­na – brave Ukrain­ian woman that trav­els around the world on the motor­bike for tree years already. And what a chance that she hap­pened to be in Cape Town now. Oth­er guests were Leon and Jaco­bi Du Toit – who devot­ed many years of their life to mis­sion­ary work in Ukraine. For them Ukrain­ian spir­it is very close. Our meet­ing was a great oppor­tu­ni­ty to meet new peo­ple, to talk to like-mind­ed peo­ple, to cel­e­brate Christ­mas and to dis­cuss future plans.
