Ukrainian Association of South Africa calls all South African, politicians, and media to Stand with Ukraine!

We kindly ask that you stand for the international principle of Sovereignty and respect of the borders of an independent state against Russia’s aggression on Ukraine.

Since invading Ukraine in 2014 and illegally annexing Crimea, Russia has waged a war of aggression in the east Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk. This war has cost Ukraine over 14,000 lives, over 30,000 wounded and 1.5 million internally displaced people.

Russia is again threatening a further invasion of Ukrainian sovereign territory in order to re-establish its empire and protect Putin’s kleptocratic oppressive regime. The aggressive Russian war against Ukraine includes:

  1. Propaganda based on lies and falsifications;
  2. Trade and economic pressure;
  3. Energy blockade;
  4. Terror and intimidation of Ukrainian citizens;
  5. Cyber-attacks;
  6. A strong denial of the very fact of war against Ukraine despite the large scope of irrefutable evidence;
  7. Use of pro-Russian forces and satellite states in its own interests;
  8. Blaming the other side for its own crimes.

By demanding to decide in its dialogue with U.S. and NATO over the Ukrainians future, Russia violates the principle of Sovereignty and the right of the Ukrainian people to determine their future.

We ask you to stand today with the people of Ukraine. We call you to respond to Russia’s increasing threats against Ukraine and other countries in the region. We call on you to support:

  • Making a statement against Russia’s use of military forces to conduct a political dialogue.
  • Demanding the attention of the South African government to the violation of the Ukrainian border by Russia in 2014, the annexation of Crimea.
  • Recognizing that Russian demand to unilaterally decide over the future of Ukraine violates the principle of Sovereignty.

Should you require more information or would like to learn more about the matter, please do not hesitate to contact [email protected].

The prevention of military aggression in one country leads to more peace and security for all on the planet.
