13 – 18th of January in Cape Town Ukrainian Woman’s Hockey team has won a place in the Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship (Division II, Group B)! Massive congratulation to the team who really showed incredible level of play and deserved Ukrainian Anthem to be played 5 times at Cape Town Grand West Arena.
While many would rightfully assume that Ukraine has a strong Ice Hockey teams, you would be surprised that Ukrainian Women’s Hockey team was only established 4 years ago.
Ukrainian Association of South Africa was very excited to support Ukrainian team especially during the first match against South Africa and we happy to hear that our support was instrumental in getting Ukrainian team the confidence to score their first puck and to win the tournament! Ukrainians attended every single game and whoever couldn’t come to the arena watched online!
